Europe joins forces for better cancer data

Today in Oslo, CancerWatch officially kicks off a new EU Joint Action that will improve the quality, comparability, and timeliness of cancer data across Europe.

With 92 partner organisations from 29 countries, CancerWatch will:

– Deliver faster, richer data from population-based cancer registries
– Harmonise quality standards and use innovative digital solutions
– Improve key indicators for prevention, treatment, quality of life, and survival
– Prepare registries for integration into the European Health Data Space

Reliable and up-to-date data are the foundation for better cancer control – from prevention to care and policymaking. With CancerWatch, we are building a stronger European cancer intelligence system, supporting Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and the European Cancer Inequalities Registry
