High-Level Medical Care and Expertise
Kauno klinikos is home to many national and international medical “firsts” and unique capabilities. It is the only center in Lithuania performing lung transplants and the only hospital in the Baltic States offering Gamma Knife radiosurgery – a non-invasive, high-precision treatment for brain tumors and other neurological conditions.
In 2024, Kauno klinikos became the first hospital in the Baltics to introduce an MRI-guided linear accelerator (MR-LINAC), a cutting-edge technology that combines magnetic resonance imaging with high-precision radiotherapy, allowing real-time visualization of soft tissue during cancer treatment. This advancement significantly improves accuracy and safety in radiation therapy.
The Cardiac Surgery Center, led by world-renowned surgeon Prof. Rimantas Benetis, has developed multiple innovative therapeutic methods, including electric cardiac stimulation and cryoablation, and performed Lithuania’s first heart-lung transplant.
