The Andalusian School of Public Health (EASP) was created by government agreement on May 2, 1985. It was incorporated as a public company, with the status of a public limited company and its founding capital entirely from the Regional Government of Andalusia. It was inaugurated on July 19, 1985, and is attached to the Regional Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs. The governing bodies are the General Shareholders’ Meeting, the Board of Directors, and the Board of Directors headed by the EASP Management Directorate.
It is a member of the main international associations of public health and healthcare management schools in both Europe and Latin America: EHMA (European Health Management Association), ASPHER (Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region), and ALAESP (Latin American Association of Schools of Public Health).
The EASP collaborates with the University of Granada and the International University of Andalusia, which recognize the Master’s and Expert courses offered by the institution as their own degrees. A large number of universities and organizations in Spain and abroad also maintain collaboration agreements with the EASP. Its main clients in the Andalusian autonomous community are the Regional Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs and the Andalusian Health Service. The School also works for professional societies, hospitals, and regional health services throughout Spain, as well as for third countries through projects with the European Union, the Pan American Health Organization, the World Bank, and the Inter-American Development Bank.
The EASP is the “WHO Collaborating Centre on Primary Health Care.”
Through its teaching, consulting, and research projects, the EASP integrates public health and management approaches.
It generates new knowledge and disseminates it among members of healthcare organizations.
It develops a continuous process of updating knowledge in response to changes in social demands and the evolution of healthcare systems.
It identifies relevant existing knowledge within organizations and the information flows necessary for its transmission.
It creates spaces for the exchange and circulation of information and facilitates the transfer between those who need it and those who generate it.
It materializes knowledge by creating products, services, and systems and implementing them in organizations.
