The University Hospital, a Local Mission
The Poitiers University Hospital provides local services to the residents of the cities of Poitiers, Châtellerault, Loudun, Lusignan, and Montmorillon, as well as their surrounding areas.
It thus provides a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, and obstetric care throughout the Vienne department.
The University Hospital, a Regional Call and Referral Mission
The Poitiers University Hospital provides regional call and referral services to the 436,000 residents of Vienne and the 1.8 million inhabitants of Poitou-Charentes.
This referral service applies particularly to cardiology, oncology, geriatrics, neurosurgery, pediatrics, biology, and imaging.
These activities are also the subject of interregional cooperation, in partnership with other university hospitals in the western region.
The 2019-2023 project resolutely demonstrates the University Hospital’s commitment to excellence, through the identification of clinical centers considered to have development potential in terms of their ability to respond to public health challenges, the provision of care and therapeutics, innovation, and basic and clinical research.
The Public-Private Alliance
The Poitiers University Hospital is a public healthcare facility that has successfully expanded its reach to the city. Indeed, since 2015, the University Hospital has collaborated with community physicians, particularly private radiologists, through an economic interest group (EIG) within the cancer center.
This center benefits from a 64-slice CT scanner and a 1.5 Tesla MRI, which complement the technical platform already equipped with a radiotherapy simulation scanner and two PET scanners (GIE Positon Poitou-Charentes).
With this rapid and safe care offer, the CHU fulfills its missions of proximity, regional reference, research and care.
