The Prof. Dr. José Conde Oncology Center of the Azores, hereinafter referred to as COA, is a public legal entity with administrative, financial, and scientific autonomy and a specialized service integrated into the Regional Health Service (SRS).
Its activities are regional in scope and are responsible for the primary and secondary prevention of cancer; the design, coordination, and development of organized population-based screening programs, as well as opportunistic screening programs and initiatives; the implementation, coordination, and development of the Azores cancer registry; and collaboration in the development and development of the regional strategy to combat cancer.
